The Heartbeat of Our Mission: Your Role in Saving Lives

The fentanyl crisis is a challenge too large for any single organization—it requires a united community. Our volunteers are the dedicated force that turns compassion into action. You are not just supporting staff; you are Peer Recovery Mentors, Community Advocates, and vital links who provide hope and practical support directly to those in need. By volunteering your time, you are actively helping us reduce stigma, expand our reach, and ensure that every individual and family in California fighting addiction knows they are not alone.

What should you know before apply

Before applying, understand that our work is centered on the opioid crisis and trauma-informed care. We require all volunteers to commit to the following:

  • Deep Commitment: A willingness to serve with compassion, respect, and a commitment to reducing the stigma surrounding addiction.
  • Training: Completing all mandatory Ruby Red orientation and confidentiality training is required before beginning any role.
  • Background Check: Successful completion of a standard background check is necessary to ensure the safety and trust of the vulnerable individuals we serve.
  • Confidentiality: Strict adherence to patient and client confidentiality protocols is non-negotiable in all peer support and advocacy roles.
Information about application process

The application process is designed to be straightforward and respectful of your time. Our initial online form takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. Once submitted, you can expect a confirmation email within 24 hours. The Ruby Red team reviews applications on a rolling basis, and qualified candidates are typically contacted within 5-7 business days to schedule a brief introductory interview. Our goal is to quickly integrate passionate advocates into our mission.

Spread awareness about volunteering

Absolutely! Spreading awareness about the need for compassionate advocates is vital to our mission. You can help by:

Community Events: Promote our volunteer drives within local community groups, places of worship, or professional organizations in California.

Sharing our Calls to Action: Use your social media networks to repost our volunteer opportunities and program updates.

Referring Others: Encourage committed friends, colleagues, or family members who share our passion for reducing the stigma of addiction to apply.

How you could become an external partner

We actively seek collaborative partnerships to expand our critical impact in the fight against the fentanyl crisis. External partners are essential in helping us scale our outreach and specialized services.

If your organization shares our commitment to community well-being, mental health support, or harm reduction, please reach out to our team via the contact form on our website.

We welcome discussions regarding:

In-Kind Donations: Providing resources, facilities, or professional services (e.g., legal or marketing support).

Service Referrals: Formalizing pathways for treatment and counseling.

Joint Awareness Campaigns: Sponsoring or co-hosting educational workshops.

Every donation directly fuels our critical programs. Funds are prioritized to ensure the accessibility of:

  • Life-Saving Resources: Purchasing and distributing Naloxone (Narcan) kits and providing overdose prevention training.
  • Mental Health Support: Subsidizing compassionate, trauma-informed counseling sessions for individuals and families in need.
  • Community Education: Funding awareness workshops and materials to reduce stigma and educate the public on fentanyl risks.

We are committed to transparency, ensuring the majority of every dollar goes directly toward service delivery.
